Middle & High School Programs

The journey continues through middle and high school. Our students receive tailored tutoring and mentorship support to guide them toward successful graduation. Our Career Counselor provides workshops to support post-secondary goals, time management skills development, and financial aid and management guidance.

Academic Support

Certified teachers, peer tutors and community volunteers provide 1:1 and small group tutoring. Our staff and our tutoring team facilitate homework completion, subject matter comprehension and test preparation.

Life Skills Learning

Students engage in a range of workshops, experiential learning and small group discussions to support practical life skills development. Topics include time management, financial literacy, career exploration, job site visits.

Life Skills

Students take part in workshops and small group discussion to develop time-management and organizational skills. Our mentors also support teens facing challenges such as stress management, peer relationships and school, work, life balance.

Cultural Enrichment

The hours outside of school give students an opportunity to expand their horizons through partnerships with local arts and culture organizations. Students are offered new experiences through cultural events in music, art and theatre, in addition to outdoor educational and enrichment experiences.

Community Service

Each year, our students take on community service projects that are age appropriate and support the development of their sense of responsibility to others and the value of becoming global citizens. Our early elementary students start with helping their teacher and one another to keep their learning spaces clean and organized, while our older students take part in wider community based service, such as trail clean up, serving meals to senior citizens, participating in food drives and supporting other non-profit initiatives. All our students participate in community service projects as part of their commitment to Far + Wise.

Mentorship

Young people who have a positive connection with a mentor grow both intellectually and interpersonally and are twice as likely to attend post-secondary education and become leaders. Our students develop mentor relationships with community members who get to know them and help them to discover their interests, provide them with individualized career guidance, and academic support.

Family Engagement

We establish strong and lasting relationships with our students and their families. Family programming promotes an understanding of their child’s educational experience, academic achievement, and post-secondary education opportunities. Families are encouraged to participate in community service projects with us and their children. Social events and family connection conferences provide ongoing opportunities for program-parent partnership, the development of trust and deep relationships between families and our staff.

Center for Career Exploration

The Center for Career Exploration (CCE) is an initiative of local nonprofit, Far + Wise. The objective of CCE is to provide trade and professional education, training, and job opportunities to benefit Blaine County students and local businesses. CCE will offer programming to middle school students, high school students, and returning students who seek local options for continuing education and training in trades, service businesses, and other professions.
