Meet Our Board

  • Pamela Mann

    CHAIR

    Pam is an attorney and community leader who brings extensive private sector and nonprofit board experience to the F+W board. After graduating from UC Berkeley and attaining a law degree from the University of California College of the Law (formerly, UC Hastings), Pam initially worked for the Enforcement Division of the SEC and later in private practice in the area of structured finance at various national law firms. Pam’s non-profit work has focused primarily on education and underserved students. She served as Board Chair of the San Francisco Education Fund whose primary focus was to support public schools by engaging volunteers in classrooms and providing grants to teachers. She also Chaired the Board of OnePurpose School, a public charter school, located in the Bayview community of San Francisco, founded to provide a quality education to underserved Bay Area students. Additionally, Pam served as a volunteer tutor in San Francisco schools, as a college mentor for CollegeTrack, and as a special project fundraiser for Bridge the Gap whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational, social and emotional resources to underserved students in Marin City and Southern Marin. Pam served on the Boards of Ronald McDonald House, Congregation Emanu El, and the Jewish Community Center, all in San Francisco.

    She and her husband, Mark Miller, have two wonderful adult daughters. The family discovered Sun Valley close to 30 years ago and Pam and Mark now spend the majority of their time here. Both Pam and Mark are committed to giving back to the Wood River Valley. In addition to engaging in the community, Pam plays tennis, hikes, golfs, snowshoes and is an avid bridge player.

  • Peter Becker

    VICE CHAIR

    An Idaho native, a graduate of the University of Idaho and a long-time resident of the Wood River Valley, Peter is a CPA who brings valuable financial expertise to the F+W Board. In addition to his duties at Becker, Chambers & Co., Public Accountants, he has been active in a wide variety of community activities since moving to the Valley in 1987. He served for 10 years of the Wood River Land Trust Board and eight years as a member of St. Charles’ Parish Council in Hailey. Peter was also actively involved with St. Luke’s Medical Center from 2008 through 2019, first as a member of the Finance Committee and lastly as Board Chair.

  • Mary Bachman

    SECRETARY

    After graduating from the University of California, Mary embarked on a 20-year career with AT&T in California and Manhattan, gaining extensive management experience and expertise in corporate strategy and communications. Post-retirement, she consulted to corporations and nonprofits in San Francisco on organizational and leadership development, volunteered with Project Open Hand and the San Francisco SPCA and served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House and the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, the world’s largest marine mammal hospital and research center. In 2020 Mary and her husband, Bill Downing, moved to Sun Valley full-time; Mary’s business acumen is a welcome addition to our board.

  • Lynn Townsend-White

    TREASURER

    Lynn is a retired business owner and an Idaho native graduating from Boise State University in 1979. After working in Seattle and Boise in pension and employee benefits, and then taking an eight-year break to start her family, Lynn joined her family’s potato starch business in Eastern Washington. During her 23 year tenure, Lynn became the CEO and sole owner of the business, growing it from one manufacturing facility to three and from 45 employees to approximately 100. She sold the business in 2019 and is now able to spend more time in the Wood River Valley.

    Lynn served on the Association of Washington Business Board for several years and held the office of Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Board. She is a big advocate and contributor to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of the Columbia Basin located in Moses Lake, Washington.

  • Kenneth Lewis

    PRESIDENT EMERITUS

    Originally from New York City, holding an undergraduate degree from Princeton and JD from Harvard, Ken practiced law, primarily in Portland, Oregon where he joined the Lasco Shipping Company, serving as President from 1979 until his retirement in 1997. Ken has extensive Board experience and a wealth of knowledge of non-profits, but his passion is the mission of Far + Wise (formerly Idaho “I Have a Dream” Foundation.) He served as chairman of the national “I Have a Dream” Foundation in New York, founding Chairman of the affiliate organization in Oregon, and in 2012, founder of our organization in Idaho.

  • Jack Bunce

    Having obtained a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Stanford University, Jack began a long career in the financial services sector, starting as a corporate analyst at Lehman Brothers. After earning an MBA from Harvard University, he held senior positions with a number of private equity and venture capital firms in Boston and San Francisco; he founded venture capital firms in Ketchum in 2006 and 2017. With long-term ties to the Wood River Valley, Jack was on the Community School Board for 10 years, serving as Board Chair for four years. He is a Director on numerous private and public companies and is also a member of the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institution at Stanford.

  • Quin Curran

    Quin is a native Californian who graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Physiology and an Arts Minor. After a stint in New York City’s fashion world, she moved to Sun Valley to work at Smith Goggles and then to San Francisco to work in publishing. The mother of two children, Quin became involved with the Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto from 2004-2012, creating concerts as a fundraising vehicle; she continues to be involved with CHC today. She was also on the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, the Castilleja School Board, and the fundraising committees of San Francisco MOMA and the Cantor Arts Museum at Stanford. Locally, Quin serves on the Board of The Advocates.

  • Taylor Gibson-Ullman

    Taylor and her husband Mark have been part time Ketchum residents since 2001 and made the full time move from New Canaan, Connecticut in 2020, following their third son’s college launch. After graduating from Bucknell University in 1983 with a degree in economics, Taylor enjoyed a 27 year career in financial services, beginning in Boston at State Street Bank and Fidelity Investments among others. Ultimately, Taylor founded her own firm in 1994 focused on sourcing, marketing and fundraising for hedge funds. She retired in 2010 to focus on family and volunteer activities. Taylor’s non-profit and volunteer activities have been solely dedicated to education and student mentorship. She was an early mentor volunteer for the NYC-based Student Sponsor Partnership, and later was a board member of Arts for Healing, an organization dedicated to music and art therapy for special needs children. She has also comanaged and co-created numerous auctions, fundraisers, and scholarships. Aside from spending time with family and friends, Taylor enjoys skiing, cycling, hiking, fly-fishing, and travelling.

  • Jacob Greenberg

    A long-time resident of this valley, Jacob and his wife Jeanne, owned and operated Shorty’s Diner. Jacob is active in county governance, serving as the Vice Chair of the Blaine County Board of Commissioners, and in the economic life of our community, serving on the Boards of the Freidman Memorial Airport Authority, Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Sun Valley Economic Development, the Local Emergency Preparedness Committee, and now as a member of the Board.

  • Joyce A. Hart

    A native Nebraskan with master’s degrees in education and music from Oregon State University, Joyce is a strong believer in education. Having spent her life as a teacher and farmer, Joyce brings decades of expertise in the field of agriculture, sharing her knowledge with students on how climate, technology and politics affect food production.

  • Jon Maksik

    Jon brings to the board extensive experience in education. Graduating from the University of Southern California, he obtained a MA in Social and Educational Foundations of Education, and a PhD in Comparative and International Education. Jon is well known in this community for his long tenure as headmaster of The Community School, and his contributions to the boards of The Community Library, the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools and the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference.

  • Kim Pertel

    Kim is grateful to call Blaine County home and live among people of action, intention, impact, and motivation. She and her family settled permanently in Sun Valley in June of 2019. Along with being a passionate Board member of Far + Wise, she currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Advocates and the Stillwater Foundation. She is the Director of Giving at Cold Summit Development and the PA Volunteer Coordinator at the Sun Valley Community School. She and her husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a horse make the best of every day in this valley; often referring to it as the greatest backyard, an endless summer camp, a snow globe, and/or a winter wonderland. Kim graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and received her Clear CLAD Teaching Credential from St. Mary’s College.

  • Beverley Robinson

    An Idaho native with a degree in Marketing, Bev served as a senior financial analyst at Intermountain Gas and then as Director of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce. Active and giving, Bev has served on the board of the American Cancer Society and volunteered for various non-profits, including the National Ballet of Canada, the Ronald McDonald Houses in Toronto, the Senior Connection, the Hunger Coalition and Far + Wise (formerly the “I Have a Dream” Foundation). In 2015 Bev, along with her husband, received the Distinguished Service Award from Utah State University.

  • Brent Robinson

    Brent brings his extensive teaching and financial background to our board. Former President, CEO and Director of Banks in Idaho, California and Toronto, Brent has served on numerous Boards, both corporate and non-profit. He holds BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Utah State University and an MBA from Harvard. Brent has taught courses in economics and management at the University of New Hampshire, Lowell Technological Institute (now part of MIT) and Boise State University.

  • Stephanie Wallace

    As a recent Wood River Valley resident, Stephanie brings a wealth of educational experience to IHDF. After graduating from the University of San Diego with a BA in Spanish and Latino studies, Stephanie taught in inner-city schools for 7 years. After obtaining a master’s degree she moved into administration, serving for many years as a school principal. Her love of the mountains then brought Stephanie, her husband and two children to this valley where she is currently Assistant Principal at Hemingway STEM school and Hailey Elementary.
