We at the “I Have a Dream“ Foundation – Idaho, were thrilled to introduce Dream Scholar Alumna, Dr. Alisha Moreland-Capuia, to the community last week.
Dr. Moreland addressed the Wood River High School student body, speaking about the critical importance of education, overcoming adversity, the power of belief in self, and acting with compassion and kindness. Dr. Moreland ended her conversation with students by listening to them roar in unison –
“I am unlimited! If it is to be it’s up to me!
Dr. Moreland also spoke at the Community Library, educating attendees about trauma, which she described as “consistent fear” – induced perhaps as a result of hunger, poverty or racial injustice. She spoke of the need for “trauma-informed” practices in our judicial and education systems.
